One exhausted puppy made the bold choice to stop mid-meal and nap with his face near the kibble like a tiny overworked intern.
There are ambitious puppies, and then there are realistic puppies.
This one reached the food bowl, took a few determined bites, and then simply stopped. Not because the food was bad. Not because anything was wrong. He was just done with being awake. He lowered his chin beside the bowl and fell asleep like someone powering down at a desk.
It was funny, but it also made perfect sense. Puppies grow hard and fast. They move from full-throttle activity to complete collapse with very little warning. That is one reason routine matters so much. Meals, potty breaks, play, and naps all work better when the day has shape.
Owners sometimes mistake strange puppy behavior for mystery when it is really fatigue in a costume. A wildly mouthy puppy may need sleep. A distracted puppy may need sleep. A puppy who lies down next to dinner and quits the workforce entirely definitely needs sleep.
He woke up later, finished eating, and carried on as though nothing unusual had happened. Which, to be fair, is exactly how puppies handle most things.
